Dentist have been using x-ray to capture and diagnose different dental problems since the beginning of modern dentistry. Technological advances have made digital x-rays the preferred way to create an image of a patient’s teeth and supporting bone structure. We orthodontists need the supports from 3D Cone Beam Computerized Tomographic Technology (CBCT) and Software technology. Digital X-rays are much safer for our young patients, producing significant lower (80-90%) radiation exposure, making them much safer than the conventional x-rays of the past.
